Overview
Dhyan Mala is a digital companion for Japa, Dhyan, scripture reflection and everyday devotion. The app is designed to be quiet, offline-first and usable without creating an account.
This Privacy Policy explains what information is stored on your device, what information may be sent to us or our service providers, and how that information is used.
Information Stored On Your Device
Practice history is local by default. Dhyan Mala may store information on your device such as:
- Practice settings, including language, theme, bead count, mala count, mantra, sound, volume, haptics and screen-awake preferences.
- Current and completed Japa sessions, practice days, streaks, mala totals and undisturbed session records.
- Interruption records created during a practice session, such as the time away from the app.
- Onboarding state and the last scripture or teaching shown in the app.
This local information is not intended to be synced to an account. You can remove local app data by deleting the app or clearing its data through your device settings, depending on your platform.
Information We May Receive
Dhyan Mala may receive limited information in these cases:
- Analytics: We use Firebase Analytics to understand basic app usage, such as screen views, practice start/completion events, preferred language, bead and mala counts, session duration and interruption counts.
- Crash and diagnostic reports: We use Firebase Crashlytics to diagnose crashes and reliability issues. Reports may include app version, build number, platform, selected language, current screen, session state, Japa counts, interruption count, audio status and device or app diagnostic information.
- Remote configuration: The app may contact Firebase Remote Config to check app configuration, compatibility and update prompts.
- Feedback: If you choose to submit feedback, we may receive your feedback category, message, optional email address, device locale, app version and submission timestamps.
Information We Do Not Collect
Dhyan Mala does not require an account. We do not collect your contacts, precise location, camera data, microphone recordings, health data, payment card details or social profile information. The app does not include ads, a social feed or leaderboards.
How Information Is Used
- To provide core Japa, Dhyan, scripture and practice history features.
- To remember your settings and keep your practice experience consistent.
- To understand app reliability, crashes, performance and compatibility.
- To improve product quality without turning practice into a social score.
- To respond to support requests or feedback you choose to send.
- To comply with applicable law, platform policies and safety requirements.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share data for third-party advertising or data broker purposes. We may share limited information with service providers that help us operate Dhyan Mala, including Google Firebase services for analytics, crash reporting, feedback storage and remote configuration.
Apple, Google and other app store or device providers may process information separately under their own terms and privacy policies when you download, install or update the app.
Retention
Local practice data remains on your device until you delete it, delete the app or clear app data. Analytics and crash reports are retained only as long as reasonably needed for product analytics, reliability and compliance. Feedback may be retained while needed to respond, improve the app, maintain records or meet legal obligations.
Your Choices
You can use the core app without creating an account. You can choose whether to submit feedback and whether to include an email address. You may request access, correction or deletion of information you have submitted to us by contacting us. Because local practice data is stored on your device, we may not be able to access or delete it for you remotely.
Children
Dhyan Mala is not directed to children under 13, or the equivalent minimum age required by local law. If we learn that a child has submitted personal information without appropriate consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
International Processing
Our service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Those countries may have data protection laws that differ from yours.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards for the information we process. No app, network or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy as Dhyan Mala changes. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a future feature adds account storage, cloud sync or a materially different data use, we will update this policy and present the change appropriately.
